5 drug peddlers held, poppy husk, intoxicating powder seized

In separate raids, five drug peddlers were arrested and 70kg of poppy husk and 120gm of intoxicating powder were seized from them, police said here today.

Acting on a tip-off, police intercepted a motorcyclist, identified as Mirapur's Kashmira Singh and recovered 70 kg poppy husk from him, they said.

In another raid at Panchhat village in the district, they recovered 70 gm intoxicating powder from Jasmit Singh and Bhupinder Singh.

Meanwhile, on the basis of a specific input, another 50 gm of contraband was seized from Harpreet Singh and Avtar Singh at Chak Hakim village, police said.

All the five were arrested and separate cases under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act have been registered against them, they added.
