Faridkot police have arrested five persons, including two women, for allegedly kidnapping a four-year-old boy.

Yuvraj Singh, a resident of Jaitu town, was allegedly kidnapped from an anganwadi centre on October 5, police said.

The accused have been identified as Makhan Singh, Kulwinder Kaur, Krishna Devi, Indra and Ashok kumar.

According to the police, the child was recovered from the kidnappers' custody yesterday from an "undisclosed location".

The motive behind abducting Yuvraj is yet to be ascertained, they said.

Meanwhile, police have also written to higher authorities seeking action against the "careless" anganwadi worker, who had allegedly handed over Yuvraj to an unknown person, claiming to be a relative of the child's parents.
