55-year-old held for raping minor girl

A 55-year-old man was today arrested for allegedly raping a minor girl in Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh, police said.

According to Police Circle Inspector A N Narasimha Murthy, accused B Naga Vighneswara Rao alias Ganapathi assaulted the seven-year-old victim last evening after taking her to his residence at Veerabadrapuram of Pedana town when she was playing in the neighbourhood.

Subsequently, the little girl informed her parents about the incident following which they lodged a complaint at Pedana police station last night.

The victim was sent to Machilipatnam government hospital for medical examination.
