6 drug peddlers held with 79 kg Poppy husk

The Sahibabad police have arrested 6 drug peddlers in two different cases during routine check-ups at Mohan Nagar and Shalimar Garden areas of the city and seized nearly 79 kg of poppy husk from them, the police said today.

City SP Akash Tomar said in the first case, four drug peddlers were found carrying 76 kg poppy husk in a gunny bag, when intercepted at Mohan Nagar traffic intersection, and were arrested. The four were identified as Raju, Deepak, Dharmpal and Vinod, the first two being Bareilly natives and the last two being from Badaun.

In the second case, two other drug peddlers were arrested from Shalimar Garden area, after found in possession of 2.5 kg of opium powder, , Tomar said, adding the duo were identified as Abdul and Shahnawaz.

Following their arrests, they were produced before a city court, which remanded them in judicial custody, he added.
