60 people fell sick due to food poisoning

Sixty people were sent for medical observation after an apparent food poisoning case in central China's Hengyang City.

Dozens of people developed symptoms of stomach aches, vomiting and diarrhoea after attending a dinner party last night at a village in Hengnan county, officials said today.

So far, 49 have been discharged from hospital and 11 remain under observation.

Local government authorities are investigating the incident, they said.

They have already ruled out the possibilities of deliberate poisoning and epidemic outbreak, they added.
