7 injured in freak mishap inside power plant

Seven persons were injured when molten coal spilled over during boiler maintenance work at the state-run Bakreswar Thermal Power plant in Birbhum district today.

The seven workers suffered minor burns as molten coal, known as 'Clinkers' spilled over as cleaning operation was in progress, a plant official said .

The injured were taken to the Durgapur Mission Hospital with which the state-run power utility has a tie-up and treated, the official said.

The incident did not affect operations of the plant or power supply.
