Seven persons who conned some youth attending an ongoing Army recruitment rally here into parting with their money on the promise of getting them recruited into the service were arrested here today, police said.

The seven were nabbed on a tip off from the youths, including those who failed to pass various tests at the rally, they said.

The recruitment rally for the Army services (soldier grade) started here on September 4.

About 6,000 youths from 11 districts attended various tests over this period.

Meanwhile, Brigadier S B Sajjan, Deputy Director General, Recruitment, urged youth not to believe promises given by anyone about Army recruitment and not to part with their money, saying the recruitment is totally on merit.

Police said they are on the lookout for another person.
