A 70-year-old woman was found murdered at her house in the Ghatampur area here, with police suspecting that the crime could be the result of a property dispute.
Sarojini, a resident of Bhitargaon rural area, was found lying in a pool of blood inside her house yesterday. A blood-stained brick was found beside her body, a police spokesperson said.
It is being suspected that the woman was beaten to death with the brick by persons known to her as three empty tea cups were found near the body, they said.
The victim lived alone and owned lands, so it is possible that she could be killed by her relatives for the property.
The body has been sent for post-mortem and an investigation has been initiated in the case.
Sarojini's relatives are being questioned, police said.
