The number of publications registered with the Registrar of Newspapers for India (RNI) has increased from 77,384 to 99,660 during the last four years, the government today said.
In a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha, Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar said that with the rise in the literacy rate in the country, the print media in India, including regional media, have shown a regular growth in recent years.
"During the last four years, the numbers of publications registered with Registrar of Newspapers for India has increased from 77,384 to 99,660 with an overall increase of 28.79 percent," Javadekar said.
