A local court has slapped a fine
of slapped a fine of RS one lakh on Tamil Nadu Chief Secretary and seven city police officers for filing a false case against the Indian Union Muslim League leader Zakir Hussain and his friend Rafique.
Principal district Munsiff Prem Anand in his order yesterday said Police Commissioner or the Chief Secretary did not appear in the court to give their explanation either in person or through the counsel.

Even the five police personnel present in the court did not give their counter to the case filed by Hussain and Rafiq.
The petitioners submitted that former corporation councillors P S Abdul Khader and his wife Ralia Baanu using their influence filed a false case against them allging they attempted to break the seal of the closed slaughter centre and prevented the police officials from discharging the duty.
A court had earlier acquitted both of them, saying it was a foisted case filed with an ulterior motive.
He then filed a case demanding compensation of Rs one lakh for filing a false case and detaining in the prison before acquittal.
The court said by pooling the compensation amount with nine per cent interest from the date of filing, the officials should give the amount to Husain and Rafiq.
