AAP today alleged that the Rajasthan government was encouraging corruption in power distribution companies and demanded a CBI inquiry into the losses incurred by discoms.
"Losses of the discoms piled up in recent years because they purchased electricity on high rates. Several irregularities were committed by officials of the companies, which led to losses to the tune of one lakh crore (rupees)," Sunil Agiwal, AAP's Rajasthan state convener, told reporters here.
He alleged that the state government appointed corrupt officials in the discoms.

"The losses are a burden on the people of the state. The Rajasthan Electricity Regulatory Commission should not raise power tariff and a CBI inquiry must be ordered to probe the losses and those responsible behind it," he said.
AAP activist and lawyer Poonam Chand Bhandari said an FIR would also be lodged against the discoms.
