The All Arunachal Pradesh Students' Union (AAPSU) today threatened to launch a movement if the indefinite strike in the North East Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST) by its employees was not withdrawn immediately.
The North East Regional Institute of Science and Technology Employees Association has started the indefinite strike from September three to press for their several demands including pension.
All demands of the Association have already been met and it is beyond the limit of the Institute to settle the pension issue. Under this circumstances, there is no point to continue the agitation, AAPSU President Kamta Lapung said in a statement here.

"It is frustrating to know that the Institute like NERIST is being left defunct for more than three weeks. More badly, the students have to postpone their mid-semester examinations and other activities for the strike," he said.
Demanding unconditional withdrawal of the strike in the interest and welfare of the students and the Institute, AAPSU urged the authority to impose disciplinary action against the offenders as per rules.
If the agitation continued, AAPSU would launch a democratic movement, it said.
