Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) today tried to disrupt a public meeting of writer Arundhati Roy called to protest allegedly growing incidents of police action against students and teachers in Delhi University.
Roy went to address the meeting, along with senior lawyer Prashant Bhushan and DUTA President Nandita Narain among others.
The meeting on "Police repression on teachers and students" was held to condemn the increased police presence in the campus and to censure the raid on DU teacher G N Saibaba's house for his alleged Maoist links and against the police action against students who were on hunger strike demanding accommodation for pass-out students of the University.

As the meeting was in progress, ABVP members started raising slogans demanding "exposure" of Saibaba's alleged Naxal links and also protested against Roy, dubbing her a "traitor".
Police whisked the protesters away as they tried to storm the meeting.
Addressing the meeting, Bhushan criticised the government's action against activists working for the people.
"The human right's activists are raising their voice against the violations of the rights of tribals, like Saibaba and a new trend of arresting these activists has started. Charges like Naxal literature's recovery are slapped on them," he said.
