Admiral's Cup Regatta from December 8

Trainees from 16 international Naval Academies will compete for honours in the fifth edition of Admiral's Cup Regatta, a prestigious annual international sailing event, to be held in the Ettikulum Bay, Indian Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimala, from December 8 to 14.

Admiral's Cup Regatta-2014 is expected to be more exciting and challenging with the participation from countries like China, France, Germany, Saudi Arabia, Thailand and USA for the first time, an official release said.

The INA has received confirmations from holders United Arab Emirates, Australia, Bangladesh, Bahrain, China, Egypt, France, Fiji, Germany, Mauritius, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, USA, UK besides hosts India.
 

The competitors will use Laser (radial) class sail-boats. The 'Admiral's Cup Regatta' was instituted by Indian Navy as a 'Fleet Race' in a single crew Olympic class 'Laser-Radial' sail boat in 2010.

Naval academies of friendly foreign countries across the world were invited to participate in the event.
