The 42-year-old, who has been a part of the show for the past two seasons, said it is unlikely she will return for a third season, TMZ reported.
"Maybe it's time for me to go. It's been on my mind a lot, as you can imagine, and now it's like, 'Do we continue on this journey?' I've loved it so much. I enjoy the show so much... It's a tough decision either way," she said on 'Idol' host Ryan Seacrest's radio show.
Lopez explained that it takes about seven months out of the year to do 'Idol'.
"It just started feeling like it's a lot. Something had to give...I honestly feel the time has come to get back to do what I do. I have put it on hold because I love Idol so much. You have a lot of other responsibilities and other things you want to do."
Fellow panelist and Aerosmith star Steven Tyler recently confirmed his departure from the show.
If reports are to be believed, Randy Jackson too is planning to depart from the show but Seacrest will be returning after signing a two year extension worth USD 30 million.
