Aid to 8 scarcity-hit districts to continue till Aug 15

The Rajasthan government today said in view of scanty rainfall, the assistance and grants being provided to eight scarcity-hit districts will continue till August 15.

Ajmer, Barmer, Bikaner, Jaipur, Jaisalmer, Nagaur, Jodhpur and Pali districts have been earlier declared scarcity-hit, a spokesman said quoting a government notification.

In view of poor rainfall, the "scarcity-hit" period is extended till August 15, the spokesman said.

Financial grants, facilities and relief assistance, wherever required, in veterinary, potable water, power and transportation sectors will continue till August 15, he said.
