The second three day annual international kite festival commenced here today.
Puducherry Welfare and Tourism Minister P Rajavelu who inaugurated the festival said the event was organised by Union Territory's Tourism Ministry in association with the Kochi- based Kite Life Foundation India.
Fourteen professional kite flying teams from Karnataka, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu and Kerala and teams from France, Singapore and Malaysia were participating in the festival.
Kites in the shape of eagle, octopus, butterfly and bat among other designs were most attractive.
The purpose of holding the festival was to make Puducherry, an ideal location for kite flying and kite making activities, he said.
