Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen (Retd) Nirbhay Sharma has expressed deep concern over allegedly increasing incidents of violence on people of the north east in the national capital and has spoken to his Delhi counterpart on it.

Sharma, who condemned the assault of a lady advocate and a nurse from Mizoram, spoke to his Delhi counterpart Lt Governor Najeeb Jung over telephone yesterday and requested him to take up the two incidents on a priority basis to expedite investigation, a Raj Bhawan communique said today.

Cases of physical injury including murders, assaults and many other discriminating and prejudicial incidents 'have to be stopped by all means'.

Sharma said a large number of people from Arunachal Pradesh, specially students go to Delhi to pursue higher studies or to seek jobs.

He emphasised on measures for augmenting the safety of the north eastern people in Delhi and to restore the confidence and faith of the people from the north east, particularly from Arunachal Pradesh, the communique added.
