Arati Barua bags Bharat Jyoti Award

Dr Arati Barua, an Associate Professor in Philosophy in Deshbandhu College of Delhi University has been conferred with the prestigious Bharat Jyoti Award by the India International Friendship Society (IIFS).

The award to Barua, who hails from Assam and is the Director of Indian division of the Schopenhauer Society (IDSS), was presented during a conference on 'Economic Growth and National Integration' in New Delhi yesterday, said a release here today.

The award, presented by former Election Commissioner G V G Krishnamurthy, is conferred in honour of extraordinary contribution and meritorious performance to eminent educationists, politicians, social workers, industrialists and sports persons for their contribution towards society in their field of endeavour, the release said.
 

Union Minister for Rural Development Abdul Haq, Jammu-Kashmir former deputy chief minister Muzaffar Hussain Beig and that state's former finance minister A R Rather are among those who have earlier received the award, the release added.
