Over 200 houses have been completely damaged due to the incessant rain in the mountainous Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir, the state authorities today said.
"More than 200 houses have been completely damaged due to the incessant rain that lashed this part of the state," SSP (Doda) Zahid Manhas told PTI.
"The civil administration and the police had already evacuated people from the vulnerable areas and shifted them to safer places," he said, adding that relief has been provided to the people who had to leave their houses.
He said that several houses in the district have developed cracks due to the rain as water has seeped into many places.
"There are reports that cracks have developed in several houses making them vulnerable to collapse," he said.
