Opposition Asom Gana Parishad today termed the Assam Budget for 2014-15 as "routine and anti-people".
"This is just a routine Budget. There is nothing for the common people. In fact, by hiking the rural land revenue, it has proposed anti-people measures," former Chief Minister and AGP MLA Prafulla Kumar Mahanta told reporters here.
The Budget presented by Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi does not have any clear plan to increase peoples' income and reduce deficit, he said.
"The Budget is full of promises, but no explanation has been given on how to fulfill those. There is no plan to tackle huge unemployment problem of the state," Mahanta said.
He also claimed the position of the state's finance department was so pathetic that the government could release only half of the MLA area development funds in 2013-14.
