Uttarakhand Governor K K Paul today said astrology is an integral part of India's ancient culture and called for its enriching it through scientific methods and research.
"In ancient times saint Parashar took the teachings of astrology further through his wisdom and inner powers and today its scientific basis needs to be proved so that curiosity towards astrology can be created. Extensive work needs to be done for its effectiveness and acceptance among the people," the Governor said.
Paul made the remarks while addressing a two-day, 'Jyotish Mahakumbh' organised at a university here, a press release issued by Raj Bhawan said.
He said India is the only country that has kept its culture and heritage alive for more than 5000 years and vedic science and astrology are its integral part.
The astrology event was attended by more than 150 astrologists from various parts of the country.
