Bahrain opposition to boycott November election

Bahrain's Shiite-led opposition today announced that it would boycott parliamentary elections planned for November in the Sunni-ruled kingdom.

Five opposition groups, including the Shiite movement Al-Wefaq, said in a statement that the election "cements absolute rule in Bahrain".

The polls will be the first since a Shiite-led uprising rocked the Gulf state in 2011.
