Bedi asks Pondy officials to "get out of comfort zones"

Puducherry Lt Governor Kiran Bedi has called upon the officials of territorial administration to "get out of comfort zones as public service demands sacrifice of personal time."

In her open message to officials today, she said, "Such deficient services do not do good to respect in governance and all senior officials should pay attention to rectify deficiencies in the governance."

"If the officials can find time to travel officially for several hours inside and outside Puducherry and the country surely they can do so for issues pendingwhich concern ordinary people," she added.

Releasing the copy of the message, to media persons, the former IPS officer said, records of deficiencies had been kept in the files of officials and they might get reflected in the annual appraisal (of their performance) which is due shortly.
 

Bedi cautioned in no uncertain terms that the officials should not take her lightly.

Calling upon officials to ensure no deficiencies crept in the governance, she said, "no amount of defence by the officials will work because it shall be based on my direct inspections or visits."

She sought the cooperation of the official machinery and asked the officials to get out of their comfort zones as "public service demands sacrifice of personal time as well.
