With social network having invaded our lives, the relationships are more turning virtual as couples are seen poking each other turning into separate islands, Ramdhanu director Shiboprosad Mukhopadhyay-Nandita Ray say about their upcoming film 'Belaseshe'.

"These days we are not connecting with each other even at bedroom at the end of day. Whatsapp, facebook are taking the time. We are getting more connected socially but don't look at the person next to me. We are turning deaf to each other physically but always want to be networked with our virtual friends," Shiboprosad told PTI in between post-production work at a city studio.

Belashshe, which dwells on multiple relationships, "will debunk the myth of 'our films their films' as 'From Ichhe to Aleek Sukh' all I wanted to do is to tell a story which will be a common man's tale, I don't believe in segmentation," Shiboprosad, whose Ichhe was a record blockbuster said.

"A police constable had told me how he identified with the hassled father of Ramdhanyu during a traffic safety week programme. Days later a well known writer said me the same thing at an event in Press Club. It means a hit is always a hit," he said.

The film, having cast thespian Soumitra Chatterjee and theatre personality Swatilekha Sengupta, the Bimala in Tagorean magnum opus Ghare Baire directed by Satyajit Ray, bears the director duo's fascination for theatre actors, a process which had set forth from Sohini Sengupta in Ichhe to Devshankar Halder in Muktodhara, Aleek Sukh.

"I am a product of theatre and am partial to theatre actors. But having said that I must say I have chosen a powerful cast for this film. There is an intense scene between Soumitra Chatterjee and Rituparna Sengupta, who is the on-screen daughter of Soumitrauncle and you will realise why the 450 films-old Soumitra Chatterjee is a legend and why Ritudi commands so much respect for reigning 22 years in the industry," Shiboprosad said.

Having called up director Raj Chakroborty when his Chirodini Tumi Je Amar became a hit, Shiboprosad said, "Whether it was a remake or not, Chirodini could connect with every audience. I think from PK, Munnabhai MBBS to Ichhe what is important is your film has to be liked by a paanwala to an IT pro. From a villager to an urban youth."

Produced by Atanu Roy Chowdhury, Belasheshe can be called a cinematic journey of the director duo who make social commentary sans being preachy.
