Bihar: 12 get life term in murder case

Twelve persons were awarded life imprisonment by a court in Bihar's Siwan district for murdering three persons 35 years ago.

Additional District Judge Om Prakash Rai also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on each of the convicts.

The convicts, Radhe Shayam Pathak, Ram Suresh Pathak, Prabhunath Pathak, Ramvilas Pathak, Bachcha Pathak, Joginder Pathak, Harendra Pathak, Tarkeshwar Pathak, Vyas Pathak, Pahwari Pathak, Uma Pathak and Amar Pathak, were taken into custody after the verdict was announced.

According to prosecution, the convicts had attacked three persons - Shivshankar Pathak, his son Girijesh Pathak, and Kanhaiya Pathak - after a dispute over ownership of a 'jamun' tree at Barwan village on May 29, 1982.
