Describing the BJP-led central government and TMC-run West Bengal administration as corrupt, the CPI-M today said that both were engaged in shadow-fighting to fool people.

Alleging that the "understanding" between the Centre and the state government has 'influenced' the CBI probe into the Saradha scam, party state secretary Surya Kanta Mishra referred to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's sending mangoes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Mishra in an oblique reference to Transport Minister Madan Mitra demanded that Mamata Banerjee remove him from the post.

Referring to Banerjee's idea to paint the city in white and blue, Mishra said, "I have no idea whether you are white or blue. But if you are white then at tomorrow's meeting (TMC's Martyrs Day celebration on July 21) you must announce the removal of him (Mitra)."

The CPI-M leader also said that the probe against people involved in the Saradha chit fund scam should continue and "if needed, properties of those involved must be seized to return money to the victims."

Mishra was speaking at a demonstration rally organised by 17 Left parties including CPI(M), SUCI, CPI, RSP.

Top Left leaders like Mohammed Salim, Shyamal Chakraborty, Manab Bhattacharjee, Rabin De besides state Left Front chairman Biman Bose were present at the rally and the procession marched from College Square in Central Kolkata to Rani Rashmoni Road this afternoon.

On the recent leak of TET question papers, assault of teachers in colleges, Mishra alleged that people have to pay bribes to get admission to colleges and get a government job.

"I have no idea about the current rate to get admission to a college. But it's a new trend here in the state. In fact, to get a government job the price is fixed according to the post's importance," Mishra added.

He also mocked Narendra Modi's promise of bringing back black money to the country.

"I am waiting for the Prime Minister to fulfil his promise of bringing back black money to the country," Mishra said.

Protest-rallies were also organised in the districts.
