An official has alleged that he was threatened by a Samajwadi Party leader, who claimed he was a "relative" of Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav.
"On April 27, SP leader Shiv Kumar Gupta, who claimed he was a relative of the Chief Minister, asked me not to be a stickler for rules as otherwise I will be sent to jail for serious offences and will not be able to show my face," Reusa Block Development Officer Ajay Pratap Singh said in a letter to the Chief Development Officer.
The SP leader was not available for comments, while his supporters claimed that it is a "political conspiracy" against Gupta.

The officer said the leader pressurised him not to include proposals of the sitting MLA on April 27 while in the block head's room.
"Though Gupta is not holding any post, he used to come to the office with anti-socials, armed with weapons and used to pollute atmosphere here. He is neither a panchyat member nor any relative of the block head. I request you to keep a tab on his movement in the office otherwise anything untoward could happen," the letter read.
Singh claimed that development work had been hampered because of the leader.
