'Batman' co-creator Bob Kane is set to receive a posthumous star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2015.

He is one of 30 celebrities selected for the honour next year, reported ABC News.

His widow Elizabeth Kane initiated the nomination process with support from Warner Bros and DC Entertainment.

DC Comics addressed the news in a blog post in which it credited long-uncredited Batman co-creator Bill Finger as Kane's "frequent collaborator".

2014 has marked the 75th anniversary of Batman's creation in Detective Comics #27.

Kane was also involved in bringing Batman to the big screen, serving as a consultant on 'Batman', 'Batman Returns' and 'Batman Forever'. He died in 1998.

Marvel Comics legend Stan Lee received a star on the Walk of Fame in 2011.
