The body of a woman, in her 20s, was found near the gate of Jamia Powerhouse in southeast Delhi this morning, police said.

A call was received at 10:24 am that a woman's body was lying near Jamia Powerhouse gate, said a senior police officer.

There were abrasion marks on her neck that suggest she could have been strangulated, he said, adding that the woman was fully clothed and prima facie, it looks that she wasn't sexually assaulted.

"The woman was aged between 20-22 and was 5-ft tall. She was wearing gold chain and a black thread in neck. There were three rings on her fingers," he said.

The spot where the body was found was inspected by the crime team and FSL team.

The body has been shifted to AIIMS mortuary and preserved and a murder case has been registered at New Friends Colony police station.
