Brain dead Sri Lankan refugee gives new lease of life to four

Four people got a new lease of life today after the family of a Sri Lankan refugee, who was declared brain dead after an accident, donated his vital organs.

61-year-old K Sathyaseelan, who was staying in a refugee camp near Mettupalayam in the district, had an accident a couple of days ago and was admitted to the private hospital, where he was declared brain dead this morning, a release from the Hospital said.

As his relatives decided to donate his organs, his liver was harvested and brought to Gem Hospital, the skin was taken to Ganga Hospital and eyes to Aravind Hospital, it said.
