A woman sustained burn injuries when her brother-in-law allegedly threw acid on her after a failed rape attempt at Khudda village in Chapar area of the district, police said today.
The woman, who sustained burn injuries, was admitted to the district hospital, said Deputy SP Arun Kumar.
In her statement to the police, the woman has alleged that her brother-in-law identified as Jahangir, tried to rape her when they were returning to the village on a bike.

Upon resisting, he allegedly threw acid on her and fled from the spot, police said.
A case has been registered against the absconding accused in this connection and efforts are on to nab him.
