BSF jawan injured in cross-border firing remains critical

The condition of a BSF jawan, who is admitted in the AIIMS after being shot in a cross border fire at International Border in Jammu and Kashmir, continued to be critical.

Head constable Ram Niwas Meena is on ventilator in the ICU of the AIIMS trauma centre.

He has been given more than 70 units of blood and blood products till now and is still bleeding profusely, doctors said.

"The liver of the head constable Ram Niwas Meena has been severely ruptured and the bullet is stuck in his back bone. He is still bleeding and his condition is critical. He is on ventilator," Dr M C Mishra, Chief of the Trauma centre said.
 

Meena was injured in the Ramgarh sector of Samba on August 5, when two rounds were fired from the Pakistan side. Meena belongs to the 200 Battalion and was manning the border outpost at Narianpur.
