Demanding rollback of a budgetary proposal to levy 1 per cent excise duty on non-silver jewellery, bullion traders here today got their head tonsured.
Protesting against the measure, eight traders got their head tonsured at Chupla Mandir, said Patron of Sarafa Association Ram Kishore Gupta.
Congress leaders have also joined the protest and started a relay hunger strike in support of their demand.

Former UP minister and Vice President of Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) Satish Sharma and party spokesman Ajay Verma along with other leaders and members of traders' associations joined the relay hunger strike.
Yesterday, several jewellers in Sahibabad took out a 'funeral procession' of Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and raised slogans against the Centre.
They had also burnt Jaitley's effigy.
