Cardamom futures fell by one per cent to Rs 1,479.50 per kg today as traders trimmed their holdings amid sluggish spot demand.

Besides, adequate stocks position following increased arrivals from producing regions also fuelled the downtrend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in March eased by Rs 14.90, or one per cent, to Rs 1,479.50 per kg, in a business turnover of 56 lots.

The spice for delivery in April was down by Rs 10.80, or 0.72 per cent, to Rs 1,495 per kg, with a trading volume of just two lots.

Analysts said offloading of positions by participants owing to a weak trend at spot market on subdued demand mainly put pressure on cardamom prices at futures trade.
