Cardamom prices surged by 1.50 per cent to Rs 1,043 per kg amid strong demand at domestic spot market and restricted arrivals from producing regions at futures trade today as speculators enlarged positions.
Some export enquiries also fuelled the uptrend.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in August shot up by Rs 15.40, or 1.50 per cent, to Rs 1,043 per kg in a business turnover of 5 lots.
Traders said widening of positions by participants, driven by rising domestic as well as exports demand in the spot market, mainly kept cardamom prices higher at futures trade.
