Cash of Rs 56.5 lakh seized in Parbhani, Osmanabad districts

Poll officials today seized unaccounted cash worth 56.5 lakh from Parbhani and Osmanabad cities and detained seven persons in this connection.

The money was allegedly being taken for distribution during election for influencing voters, the officials said.

While Rs 50 lakh was seized from a Mahindra car in Dhalegaon village in Parbhani district, Rs 6.5 lakh from a Maruti Swift at Pardi Phata village in Osmanabad district.

The cases are transferred to Income Tax department for further action, said election department assistant Rajeshwar More.

Seven persons found in possession of the cash in Osmanabad incident are being questionned.
