CBI registers 90 cases related to defence services in 3 yrs

CBI has registered 90 cases related to defence services in the last three years and 42 of these are pending investigations, the Parliament was informed today.

Of these 90 cases, 42 are pending investigation, 41 are pending trial and five have been closed by CBI with recommendation for administrative action, Defence Minister A K Antony told Rajya Sabha in a written reply to a query.

In one case, Court has asked for further investigation and one case has been handed over to Army for action under the Army Act, he said.

On CBI inquiry into Tatra truck deal, Minister of State for Defence Jitendra Singh said, "CBI is investigating into the alleged irregularities committed in the BEML Tatra Trucks deal."
 

In reply to a query on irregularities in Black Shark torpedo deal, Antony said, "The contract for procurement of Black Shark torpedoes has not yet been finalised."

On completion of Rangia-Murkongseleek railway line along the India-China border, he said, "Government has drawn up appropriate strategic plan to improve operational capabilities and development of supporting infrastructure like rail, road and forward air fields to achieve desired defence preparedness along the China border.
