Chana futures gain 0.50 pc on upsurge in demand

Chana prices rose bny 0.50 per cent to Rs 2,823 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators enlarged positions, taking positive cues from the spot market on firm demand.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in far-month August traded higher by Rs 14, or 0.50 per cent to Rs 2,823 per quintal with an open interest of 1,37,360 lots.

Similarly, the commodity for delivery in July contract edged higher by Rs 5, or 0.19 per cent to Rs 2,700 per quintal in 82,920 lots.

Analysts said speculative positions created by participants following rising demand in the spot market mainly led to the rise in chana prices at futures trade here.
