Chandigarh bans sale of loose cigarettes

The Chandigarh Administration has imposed a ban on sale of loose cigarettes, and other tobacco products that do not carry specified health warnings on it.

The ban has been imposed in public interest with immediate effect, an official release said here today.

The step has been taken under the provisions of Section 7 of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products (Prohibition of Advertisement and Regulation of Trade and Commerce, Production, Supply and Distribution) Act, 2003 as amended from time to time, it said.
