Chilli futures up 3.53% on strong demand

Amid firm domestic demand and restricted supplies from producing regions, chilli prices spurted by 3.53 per cent to Rs 12,200 per quintal in futures market today.

In futures trading at the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, chilli teja for delivery in November month surged by Rs 416, or 3.53 per cent, to Rs 12,200 per quintal with an open interest of 35 lots.

In a similar fashion, the spice for delivery in December contracts gained Rs 300, or 2.63 per cent, to Rs 11,700 per quintal in 5 lots.

Analysts attributed rise in chilli prices at futures trade to strong demand in the spot market against restricted supplies from producing regions.
