Amid pick-up in domestic demand and restricted arrivals from growing regions, chilli teja prices surged 3.87 per cent to Rs 11,690 per quintal in futures trade.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chilli teja for delivery in October spurted Rs 436, or 3.87 per cent, to Rs 11,690 per quintal with an open interest of 135 lots.
Analysts said apart from strong demand in the spot market, limited arrivals from producing belts supported the rise in chilli teja prices.
