Chilly day in Delhi; fog disrupts rail services

Chilly winds swept through the city today bringing the temperature down to 6.4 degrees Celsius, a notch below the season's average, while moderate to dense fog continued to disrupt rail services.

Sun came out following an overcast morning and the maximum temperature rose to settle at 18.7 degrees Celsius,three notches below the normal, said a MeT department official.

Foggy conditions affected the visibility which was recorded 1200 metres at 5.30 AM and dropped significantly to 400 meters at 8.30 AM. It was recorded 1000 meters at 11.30 AM.

According to rail authorities, 30 trains have been cancelled and 75 trains delayed due to poor visibility in the morning. It reduced to 27 by evening.
 

The MeT has predicted party cloudy skies for tomorrow with moderate to dense fog in the morning.

"The skies will be partly cloudy. Moderate to dense fog may occur in the morning and forenoon. The maximum and minimum temperature is expected to hover around 20 degrees Celsius and 7 degrees Celsius respectively," the weatherman said.

Humidity in the air today oscillated between 97 per cent and 61 per cent.

Yesterday, the minimum temperature was recorded at 7.5 degrees Celsius while the maximum settled at 16.3 degrees Celsius, five notches below the season's average.
