The vice mayor of a central Chinese city has been arrested for abuse of power and allegedly taking bribes.
Xie Yangdang, 48, the vice mayor of Changning in Hunan province, is accused of exceeding his remit in trying to exempt a real estate company from paying land fees it had evaded, the provincial procuratorate said.
Xie is also suspected of taking bribes.

A further investigation into the case is underway.
In August, the provincial discipline inspection commission of the Communist Party of China said on its website that Xie was under investigation together with another four officials in Hengyang city. Changning is under the administration of Hengyang.
