: Trade body Confederation of Indian Industry has formed special teams to support in the relief measures taken by the government following the devastation caused by cyclone Vardah in Chennai and neighbouring districts.
The special teams would participate in the relief measures as cyclone Vardah uprooted thousands of trees, disrupted land and air transport, power supply and network connectivity among others, a press release said.
Stating that top officials of CII were in regular contact with Government departments, the release said CII member companies -- JCB India, Ashok Leyland, Volvo and others have deployed various machines in the affected areas.

So far about 15,000 tonne of debris were removed in 14 zones of Chennai Corporation.
The CII Southern region has planned to come out with a medium term strategy in terms of preparedness and mitigation of disasters shortly, the release added.
