Police today recovered the body of a woman in the early hours today from her apartment at Kaikhali area in northern parts of the city.
A senior police officer said, the blood soaked body of 30-year old Shampa Das, bearing multiple injury marks, was found in the morning after breaking open the locked apartment by cops. They were alerted by neighbours.
She worked as a civic volunteer of West Bengal police.
Her husband was found in injured condition and has been admitted to a local hospital.
He was not in a position to speak, the officer said adding he too had been working as a civic volunteer with Bidhannagar police commissionerate.
Investigators were probing multiple angles including loot in the murder, the officer said.
The job of a civic volunteer is to assist the police in manning traffic and other routine work.
