Classical dancer arrested for duping NRI

Rekha Saini, who runs a cultural society here, allegedly duped Udai Singh of Rs 1.27 crore, saying she would organise a musical programme abroad in which Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle and Nitin Mukesh would perform, police said.

After getting the money, she postponed the dates and started avoiding Singh, they said, adding, she was at large for one-and-half year and was arrested from Brahmpuri area yesterday.

"The woman had contacted Singh and convinced him to finance a musical programme in Netherlands last year. She promised that she would call noted singers like Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle and Nitin Mukesh, and took Rs. 1.27 crore from him," Additional DCP Yogesh Dadhich said.

 

"Since taking the money, she was absconding for one and half year and running dance classes here. She was arrested and is being interrogated," he said.
