With Hindustani devotional songs never waning popularity among the expatriate Indians, popular Bhajan singer Anup Jalota feels the new-look 'Ramcharit Manas', contemporising the Tulsidas classic in fusion form, will be a hit in London and elsewhere overseas.

"This is for the first time happening in India. I had rendered Tulsidasi Bhajans at different venues but it was all in the pure singing form. This time bhajan, pure south Indian classical dance accompanied by mridangam and other typical instruments will all merge together," Anup said.

"In every place - Bengal, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh - bhajans commemorating Radha and Krishna strike a direct chord with the listeners including the present generation who are as much hooked to bhajan as other present day genres of music," the 'Aisi Lagi Lagan' singer told PTI here tonight during a rehearsal.

"Pura biswas sari duniya aab Tulsidas ki kahaniya sunegi....Our people are everywhere. And the foreigners will also stay tuned as it will be a fusion between typical 'Tulsidasi' Ramayan with one of the richest art forms in the country 'Mohiniattyam' dance form," Anup said.

Anup, who would dub the fusion as classical fusion where traditional dance elements are traditional, said he was composing lyrics on his own infusing 'sur-loy' with that.

"Let the Younger generation get to know what can be the real gold for them," he said.

Talking about leading contemporary classicists he said, "Yes I am willing to bring out a devotional album with Pt Ajay Chakraborty where my forte will be devotional and his classical.

In a medley of Mohiniyattam, Kaladipayettu and Chaau along with the musical composition of Anup Jalota, the Kaishiki Arts and Research Centre initiative for the first time in India will narrate the journey of virtue to annihilate vice, eminent danseuse Mom Mukherjee, the mainstay behind the concept, said.
