Clerk held on graft charge

The vigilance department today

arrested a clerk on graft charge from Jandaha block in Bihar's Vaishali district, an official said.

Acting on a complaint, a vigilance team laid a trap and caught the Jandaha block office clerk Brij Nandan Rai red handed receiving Rs. 5000 in bribe from Arun Kumar, a native of Khopi village, the Director General of Police (DGP), Vigilance, P.K. Thakur said.

Rai had demanded bribe from Kumar for releasing amount for construction of house under the Indira Awas Yojana (IAY), he said.

The tainted clerk has been booked under relevant provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act and will be produced before a designated vigilance court for judicial remand, Thakur said.
