CM gives cash incentives to sportperson, coaches

Tamil Nadu government has given away Rs 78.50 lakh to various sportspersons and coaches hailing from the state and who had achieved international honour.

Chief Minister O Panneerselvam gave away cheques to various sportspersons in this regard, including a discus throw silver medallist and judo bronze winner in the 2014 Asian Para Games.

The Chief Minister gave away the cash incentive in lines with the government policy to encourage sportsmen who excel in international tournaments, a government release said today.

Among others who received the cash incentives included K Santhamuthuvel, who bagged silver in discus throw, and R Vijayasanthi, who secured bronze medal in Judo, in the 2014 Asian Para Games, it said.
 

Various chess players who won Grandmaster titles and coaches of sportspersons for the 2014 Asian Para Games were also rewarded.

The Chief Minister, who gave away the cash incentive on January 18, also lauded the sportspersons for bringing laurels to the country and the state, the release said.
